"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize?...Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly;" 2 Cor 9:24-26

Proud as a Peacock

“Proud as a peacock,” is a common saying. It is little wonder when you look at these elegant birds strutting about. If beauty mattered they would have every right to be proud, but the Bible says, “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:30. Fearing the Lord is what matters, not beauty. So do not be like a peacock and be proud of your looks. When you are showing off your beauty, people see you. When you are fearing the Lord, people see Him. Let God live in you and you will be truly beautiful.

Spring!

The trees around here are just starting to blossom. It is exciting to watch spring come in, new life growing, and everything starting to bloom. It is even more exciting to watch God work in someone’s life as they become a new creature and blossom as they grow into the image of Christ.

Little? No Problem

These flowers are on the small side of things, they are not much taller than the grass that surrounds them. (And no, we do not have super long grass.)  Although they may be small, these flowers still give God glory and show His amazing handiwork. We can be like these flowers. No matter how small or insignificant you may be, you can still give God glory and show His amazing handiwork. Let Him live through you and live each day to bring glory to His name. Stand tall like these flowers and bring the Lord glory and honor!

Carrying God’s Banner

Soliders carry the banner of the king or country they are fighting for. We should carry the Lord’s banner as soldiers in the Lord’s army. We must carry it boldly and proudly. As I was thinking of this picture the words to Am I a Soldier of the Cross came to mind.

Am I a solider of the cross,
a follower of the Lamb?
And shall I fear to own His cause
or blush to speak His name?

Must I be carried to the skies
on flowery beds of ease,
While others fought to win the prize
And sailed thru bloody seas?

Are there no foes for me to face?
Must I not stem the flood?
Is this vile word a friend to grace,
To help me on to God?

Sure I must fight if I would reign:
Increase my courage, Lord;
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy word.

The Lord’s banner is His name, His cause, His word. Psalm 20:5 “We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our¬†banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.” Bear it boldly as a good soldier of Jesus Christ!
