"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward to mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Phil 3:13-14

Why the name Racing Upward?
Throughout the Bible there is talk of life as a race and a path. This concept jumped out at me several years ago and became a theme for my life. I can relate to racing. I’ve always loved sports, running, and competition. A race is a competition. Everyone who runs in a race runs, but only one receives the prize, the one who is the best. I’ve always wanted to be the best at things and I have never liked coming up to a challenge that I could not conquer. So the idea of life being a race, a challenge to be won, appealed to me. And thus I start thinking about myself as a runner on the race of life and start living so that I could win. Everyday I strive to move forward, closer to the end goal. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I am racing upward and onward. Always trying to get closer to the Lord and be more like Him. That is why I have used the name racing upward.

What is the purpose of this blog?
This blog is designed to be a place where thoughts that come as I am running my race can be shared in hopes that you may be encouraged or to help you to think of things in a new light. I want to bring God glory through this blog and it is my goal to always honor Him in it. I have dedicated this blog to the Lord and hope that it will accomplish His work and encourage you to draw closer to Him and serve Him better. Every one has different views. What is written on this blog is my view and is true to the best of my understanding. You may have a different view on a subject and may not agree with what I write. If you do, feel free to let me know. I am not always right and I do not always know everything. What is on this blog is accurate to the best of my knowledge but it will be my view of things. I’m human, I’m not perfect, but I do know Christ and wish to honor Him with this blog.

Who am I?
My name is Emma. I am a young lady in my early twenties. I grew up in a Christian home with five brothers and no sisters, this combined with my personality has made me a tomboy. I have been home-schooled all my life. I’m now graduated and living as the Lord directs. I was quite young when I came to accept Christ as my savior, realizing that I was a sinner and nothing I could do could ever get me into God’s presence and out of the punishment that was due me except the work that Christ did on the cross when He took my sins upon him. He died for me and was buried, but three days later He rose again and through Him I haveĀ eternalĀ life and admission into God’s presence. Every day since I first believed in His name I have drawn closer to my Lord and I continue on that journey throughout my life. That is who I am and that is a bit about the background from which I am writing.
