"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize?...Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly;" 2 Cor 9:24-26

I was standing by the door of our grocery store this morning waiting to be picked up. As I stood there, I started observing people. Lots of people went in and out. At first I was hesitant to meet people’s eyes, then I started wondering why. What was I scared of them seeing? or was I scared of what I would see? I do not think it is the latter. I think it is something that has been ingrained in me over the years because of my shyness.

I decided to start looking people in the eye and smiling. Some smiled back, some never noticed me. As I stood there I wondered about the stories these people had to tell. Why did the older employee sigh? Why did that lady look cross? Why was that mother so kind to her children?

Lots of people are out there. Lots of them have hurts. Lots of them have needs. As Christians we should start looking them in the eye and seeing them as God sees them. We should want to help them. We should have nothing to hid. Let them see what is on your inside. Let them see God’s love. Let them see that you have hope. Look people in the eye and love them.
