"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize?...Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly;" 2 Cor 9:24-26

You Need a Hose

Fire hydrants are handy things to have if you have a fire on your house and firemen are there. But they do no good if there is not a fire hose to attach to them. Just having a fire hydrant sitting outside your house is not going to keep your house from burning down. The Bible is the same way. It is a can save you and guide you but it does you no good if you don’t use it. It isn’t enough just to have a Bible sitting on your shelf. You have to stop and use it, you have to take the time to open it up. When you do it is very valuable. Be a hose and get everything you can from that precious book.

Beauty in Death

Have you ever considered leaves? Most people stop and look at them in the fall, the time that they are dying. Why if the leaves are dying would people want to look at them? The answer is because that is when they are the most beautiful. I was considering them today and considering that fact when a verse from Revelations came to mind. “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Revelations 14:13) Those who die in the Lord are going to a beautiful place and the closer they get to death the closer they get to the Lord and they become more beautiful. Grow closer to the Lord and more beautiful each day.  Be like a leaf, beautiful as you are dying.

20090911erk001-copy1Plants need sunlight to live. The sun is vitally important to them, they would
not be here without it. People also need Son light. The light that the Son of God gives to us. The Son of God is light. John
1 talks about how Jesus is the true light.
If we really want to live we need that light.
He is our source light and through Him
we can live and grow.

The Battle

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” 2 Timothy 2:3

We are called to be soldiers for Jesus Christ. As such we will endure hardness. How you endure it will determine whether you are a good soldier or not. I know I want to be a good soldier. I must keep pressing on! I must not give up! I must not lose faith! The battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. The battle is between good and evil, dark and light. We are the light. Through Christ we can defeat the forces of evil. Let us be strong and very courageous! Let us fight the good fight! Let us endure hardness as good soldiers of Jesus Christ until the final victory!

Are You Fertilized?

When fertilizer is applied to plants it helps them grow to be healthy and beautiful. So to with us, when we apply “fertilizer” to our lives we will grow to be healthier and more beautiful. The “fertilizer” that we, as Christians, use include the Word of God and prayer. As we spend time with God, He will “fertilizer” our lives and grow us into beautiful healthy Christians. Are you being fertilized?
